About us

Mission

Moving Collective is a non-profit contemporary dance organization giving performance driven opportunities to independent, evolving choreographers and dancers.  Moving Collective is dedicated to the creative advancement, presentation, and preservation of contemporary dance in Louisville and the surrounding region through performances, educational and community outreach programs, and lecture demonstrations.

History

Moving Collective was founded by Theresa Bautista in 2005 as a way to create a platform for choreographers to share their work while giving professionally trained dancers the opportunity to showcase their talent.

The self-titled premier concert was intended to be a one-time event.  Following the support of the artists and the local community, Moving Collective has continued to present contemporary dance concerts for over a decade. Currently, we have presented over 150 choreographic works and showcased the talents of over 100 dancers.

In 2016, Amanda Browning joined Theresa to begin a new vision for the future by working together to create the company’s first full evening length work. As we move forward into our 12
th season, Moving Collective will continue to present innovative choreography by local and regional choreographers as well as premiering evening length works.
